August is the month when many Europeans take their annual holiday. This month we are exploring some European cities beginning with “A” where the summers are glorious and even the lesser-known destinations welcome visitors to their cities.

Wallpaper number 1 is of the cathedral in the southern French city of Albi. The city is also home to the Toulouse Lautrec Museum, containing the largest collection of his artworks.
Wallpaper number 2 is a view of the Etruscan city of Arezzo, located in Tuscany, Italy. The city is home to a monthly antiques fair, and exploring the medieval streets at a leisurely pace is a great way to discover it. Arezzo is also famous for its frescoes inside the Basilica of San Francesco.
Wallpaper number 3 finds us in the lakeside city of Annecy, in the Haute-Savoie region of France. A popular summer holiday destination, Annecy is surrounded by picturesque mountains and the lake is a stunning shade of turquoise. Best explored on foot, the city is a maze of canals, cobblestone streets and coloured houses. Truly a delightful place to visit!
And, for your bonus wallpaper, we’re taking you to the small city of Alkmaar in northern Holland. Famous for its weekly cheese market, Alkmaar is close to the beaches on the North Sea and the nearby countryside is dotted with windmills. It is also known for it’s quaint old city centre, multitudes of cafes, and great shopping!
