For those of us in the northern hemisphere, February is traditionally a hard month ā€“ still winter and dark, with spring feeling a long way off.
But, February is the perfect time for groups to explore Europe! Usually the cheapest month of the year to travel, and with far fewer crowds to contend with, there really is no reason not to consider a trip in this month. As the perfect antidote to those winter blues, we are focusing our wallpapers this month on some hidden gems that combine warmer winter weather with rich experiences. Wallpaper number 1 is of the Andalusian city of Seville, Spain. Seville offers not only milder winter weather but also a rich blend of history and culture. Groups can explore Moorish architecture, the legacy of the Spanish Empire and traditional flamenco performances for a well-rounded cultural experience.
Wallpaper number 2 keeps us in Spain, but moves us south and off the coast of Africa to the Canary Islands and, specifically, to Tenerife. Tenerife combines stunning natural beauty with opportunities for scientific exploration. Groups can visit Mount Teide, Spainā€™s highest peak and an active volcano, to learn about geology, or delve into astronomy at the internationally renowned Teide Observatory, where the clear skies are ideal for stargazing.
Wallpaper number 3 takes us to another island ā€“ Sicily, off the southern tip of Italy. Sicilyā€™s capital, Palermo, is a melting pot of cultures, with Norman, Arab and Byzantine influences. Groups can explore its unique history, study Mediterranean ecosystems, or visit the nearby town of Monreale for its stunning mosaics and lessons in medieval art.
And, in this monthā€™s bonus wallpaper, we are travelling to Athens, Greece. Often uncomfortably hot to visit in the summer, Athens in February has pleasant temperatures allowing groups to really enjoy an unparalleled dive into ancient history. Visitors can explore the Acropolis in relative peace and quiet, learn about democracy where it was born, and connect with the myths and legends that shaped European literature and culture.
