Before we get carried away with plans of summer holidays this year, we’re looking forward to continued magical winter scenes, festivals, foods and fun! For some it means a winter holiday, for others it means a ski trip or snow activities. For others it means staying warm by a lovely, cosy fireplace, or counting down the days to the first signs of spring! We know a busy year of travel planning and travel awaits. Wallpaper number 1 is of the ski slopes and stunning mountains of the area around Verbier, Switzerland, and is the gateway to the 4 Vallées (4 Valleys) ski area. Verbier is the largest of the ski fields and with views across to the Matterhorn and also to Mont Blanc. The first chair lift was installed in 1951 and, prior to that, it was indeed a hike up the mountain! With views such as these, a mountain hike mightn’t seem so bad!

Wallpaper number 2 is of one of the light installations at the Festival of Lights in Lyon, France. Held each January, the city lights up with fantastic light displays across the city. Always inventive and bright, even the cold winter evenings can’t keep the visitors away. Some of the city’s grandest landmarks and buildings come to life in a wash of colour!

Wallpaper number 3 takes us back to Switzerland for this stunning image from a field in Leutschenberg, a small area between Basel and Zurich. Located close by is Wartenfels Castle, believed to have been built in the mid-13th century. On a clear day, the alpine panorama across the Jura is simply breathtaking.

And, for your bonus wallpaper, we just had to share this magical winter scene of the Aurora Borealis (or Northern Lights) from Lapland, Finland. Santa and the reindeer are now taking a well-deserved break while many enjoy a ski holiday in this northern part of Europe.
